Enhancing its commitment to developing the capability and innovation spirit of tea-ristas (the makers of tea-based drinks), as well as appreciating the talented tea-ristas, F&B ID, company that manages all portfolio of food & beverage business pillar from Kawan Lama Group, held Chatime Tea-rista Competition Indonesia 2024. In the competition, the tea-ristas competed to show their talent and passion in making unique and tasty drinks based on determined themes.
Chatime Tea-rista Competition Indonesia 2024 peak was held in Living World Alam Sutera on 9 August 2024. In the event, the three teams of the contestants succeeded in making their way to the final phase, and were given 10 minutes to prepare drinks using the ingredients and equipment provided. While the drink themes were determined at random.
After the drinks were made, every team was given three minutes to present the drink in front of the jury comprising the management of Chatime Indonesia and Odilia Winneke, Managing Editor of detikFood, also a food and beverage industry observer. The judgment aspects included the drink’s quality and visuals, theme alignment, the team’s creativity and synergy, and also the ability to present the drink.
After a tight judgment process, Ahmad Ramdani and Siti Wulandari from Chatime Jakarta store were chosen to be the 1st winners. Ahmad Taufiq Pradana and Eka Yurinda Asdani from Chatime Malang and Surabaya stores became the 2nd winners, Farawanda Hardi and Ayu Helfi Aryani from Chatime Jakarta store became the 3rd winners. The three teams were initially chosen from over 420 Chatime stores in Indonesia, which had undertaken a series of selection processes this year, starting from elimination phase in May, until semi-final in July, by area manager and regional manager. The 1st and 2nd winners who were chosen would compete with the world’s best tea-ristas in Global Chatime Tea-rista Competition in Thailand at the end of 2024.
Devin Widya Krisnadi, the CEO of F&B ID, explained, “Through this event, we hope that we can keep creating the best tea-ristas to serve simple soulfull happiness every day to our customers through a cup of Chatime. Hopefully, the winners of this competition can continue, or even exceed the achievements of the previous winners, who in the last 2022 and 2023 became the 2nd winner in the Global Tea-rista Competition.”
After the competition, Ahmad Ramdani and Siti Wulandari, the 1st winner team, expressed their happiness. Wulan, the name she usually called, said, “Getting to this position is out of our imagination at first, because the preparation we did was not what we got in the competition, making us choose to do things out of the box, which brought us to the 1st winner throne.”
Ahmad added, “We were initially nervous, whether the drinks we created fulfilled the jury’s expectations, and alhamdulillah, we could be the 1st winner. Truthfully we still feel a bit tired due to our continuous exercises before the competition, but we’re satisfied with our achievement. For preparations to face Thailand, we’re more focused on enhancing our ability of public speaking using the English language and sharpening our mixology (mixing technique) of syrups to bring the best results.”
Chatime Tea-rista Competition Indonesia 2024 is the fourth competition held in Indonesia. The first was held in 2019, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and resumed in 2022 and 2023.
