Kawan Lama Group Contributes in National COVID-19 Vaccine Program Acceleration

Ever since the emerging COVID-19 pandemic two years ago, the government has been constantly extending the national vaccination as an effort to reach national herd immunity. Kawan Lama Group and its business units are ready to support the government by helping to undertake COVID-19 vaccinations.

As of the end of January 2022, Kawan Lama Group Vaccination Centers located in the Head Office and operational areas spread in cities, have vaccinated more than 290,000 citizens. The group of recipients varies from elders, public servants, general public, Kawan Lama Group employees, to children. 

The high level of vaccination rate in Indonesia was acknowledged nationwide and internationally. On 6 January 2022, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced his high appreciation for every party participating in COVID-19 vaccinations, helping the government’s program to run well.

Since 2021, Kawan Lama Group has done 25 vaccination programs spread in Jabodetabek, Bandung, Cirebon, Tasikmalaya, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Samarinda, Makassar, Kendari,  Manado, and Kalimantan. The programs were done independently or collaborating with several parties, such as APRINDO (Asosiasi Pengusaha Ritel Indonesia), HIPPINDO (Himpunan Peritel dan Penyewa Pusat Perbelanjaan Indonesia), Yayasan CEO Indonesia, and also government’s institutions namely local health departments (Dinas Kesehatan), TNI, and POLRI.

Kawan Lama Group also actively organized several vaccination programs in Living World Alam Sutera Mall, with a total of 11 activities in 2021. One of the most recent was on 25 August, collaborating with KODIM 0506 Tangerang. As an attendee, Deputy Mayor of Tangerang Pilar Saga Ichsan expressed a high appreciation regarding the sufficient facilities and smooth program-running with strict health protocols.

As 2022 arrives, Kawan Lama Group Vaccination Center keeps its consistent support to fasten the COVID-19 handling by holding a vaccination program for children aged 6 to 11 on 8 January, followed by booster vaccinations on 15 and 22 January. Both activities took place in the Kawan Lama Head Office Building, West Jakarta.

Head of Corporate Communication & Sustainability Kawan Lama Group Beatrice stated that the Vaccination Centers organized since last year show the Group’s consistent support to help the government realize its program into success, including the recent Presidential Instruction for citizens aged 18 and older to get booster vaccinations starting on 12 January. “Kawan Lama Group, with the spirit to “Bring Value for a Better Life”, commits to provide better welfare for all, which aligns with the Humanity pillar of Kawan Lama Foundation, the foundation of our social services.”

Elation and cheerfulness were seen on Alika (11) and Aliya (8) after joining the vaccination program on 8 January, as accompanied by their parents. Both voiced similar jolly-toned comments regarding the event. “We were so scared from the morning, even while in the car. The place was crowded too. Surprisingly, the vaccination didn’t hurt at all. The event was very fun! We also got balloons to take home. Come on, guys! Let’s get vaccinated!” they uttered happily.

The booster vaccination program held on 22 January was also appreciated by the participants. One of the attendees coming with her children for vaccinations together, Natalia, said that the event was running well, with a spacious and comfortable area.
