A national 2019 survey declared 1 in 4 children in Indonesia is suffering from stunting, a growth failure syndrome caused by malnutrition and inadequate psychosocial stimulations in a child’s first five years of life. As a form of commitment to reduce the stunting prevalence, the government has published Presidential Decree (Perpres) no. 72/2021 on the acceleration of stunting reduction, with a target to lower the percentage to 14% in 2024 and continuous development in 2030 based on the former accomplishments.
Kawan Lama Group participates in the government’s program by delivering supporting goods to PAUD & Daycare Tunas Muda IKKT in Jati Makmur, Bekasi, including school operational necessities and educational toys, which had been distributed since March 2020 until the school’s inauguration day on 1 October 2021.
Chairman of Kawan Lama Group Kuncoro Wibowo stated, “as one of the places where children in their early ages learn and play, PAUD & Daycare Tunas Muda’s main purpose plays a great part to maximize the development in kids’ golden period. Kawan Lama Group delivered educational necessities and toys to complete the existing facilities. We hope the education process here will run effectively and help the government to accomplish their program to lower stunting statistics in Indonesia.”
Supported by ACE, INFORMA, and Toys Kingdom through Kawan Lama Foundation, the donations include school operational supplies such as sets of tables and chairs, CCTV, educational toys and playground equipment to boost motoric sensory in children aged 2 to 7, and cleaning equipment.
“With the existence of this PAUD, we hope the children develop good character, commitments, and discipline, and are able to keep up with the developing era, in hope to be an excellent, wise, and polite future leader,” the Chairwoman of Yayasan Tunas Muda IKKT, Nanny Hadi Tjahjanto explained.
PAUD & Daycare Tunas Muda IKKT was established in 2019 and had already run its teaching and learning activities, followed by a late official inauguration on 1 October 2021 due to the pandemic situation. The students’ levels include Kelompok Bermain (2-5 years old), TK A (5-6 years old), and TK B (6-7 years old). The learning activities are divided not by classes, but centers, e.g. acting center, blocks center, imtaq (iman dan taqwa) center, preparation center (writing and reading), art center, and nature shapes center (to learn solid and liquid states), and playing center to support motoric training through physical activities to art and creativities.
