Celebrating International Blood Donation Day, commemorated on 14 June 2024, also as a token of care about the fulfillment of national blood needs, Kawan Lama Group in cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), held National Blood Donation in over 130 ACE and INFORMA stores located at 72 cities and regencies in 28 provinces in Indonesia during June and July 2024. The program with the theme ‘Small Steps to Share Life with Others’ was attended by employees, customers, and the public, successfully collecting more than 3,000 blood bags, making the total amount collected since the program was first held in 2015 until now over 29,000 blood bags.

A participant, Pram, explained his reason for participating in the program: “The blood donation by Kawan Lama Group helps me to donate my blood routinely. Now, I don’t need to come to the PMI office anymore, but I can still contribute to others. I hope this program can be expanded to reach and positively impact more people."

National Blood Donation by Kawan Lama Group is a sustainability program which intends to go “Towards 50,000 Blood Bags”.

Head of Blood Donation Unit of PMI Central, dr. Linda Lukitasari Waseso stated, “With over 280 million of population, Indonesia needs at least 5.6 million of blood bags every year. To fulfill this need can’t be done by PMI itself, we need support from everyone, including Kawan Lama Group. That’s why we very much appreciate the national blood donation initiative done by Kawan Lama Group since 2015. Hopefully, this program can continue in the years to come.”

“Since 2015, every year Kawan Lama Group routinely holds a national blood donation program every year; until last year, over 25,000 blood bags were collected . This year we target the blood donation program in 72 cities and regencies, more than twice of city and regency numbers successfully realized last year. Hopefully, by increasing the city numbers, more blood bags will be collected, and eventually, more beneficiaries will get the advantages,” said Melinda Pudjo, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability of Kawan Lama Group.
