Supporting the development of human resources in Indonesia, especially in the field of measurement and calibration, Kawan Lama Solution, as a brand of PT Kawan Lama Solusi, gave equipment to facilitate Metrology Olympics 2024. The Metrology Olympics was held in Kawan Lama Solution Cikarang on 21 August 2024, and divided into two categories, namely University & Polytechnic and Industry.
The competition organized by Badan Standardisasi Nasional (BSN / National Standardization Agency) in cooperation with PT Kawan Lama Solusi and PT Mitutoyo Indonesia gathered industrial college students and practitioners from all over Indonesia to show their knowledge and ability in measurement. There were 16 out of 215 contestants who were successfully proceeded to the final phase to do a practical measuring test. A total of six winners from the competition, three winners for each category of University & Polytechnic and Industry, also got Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Training in Mitutoyo Singapore.
Rangga Aditya Sugiarto, the 1st winner for category University & Polytechnic, told his experience, "The event is very good, especially for college students and industrial persons, because we can know our measurement ability and enhance our value. Metrology is very important in the industry because the parts we create are based on measurement, so the measuring results define the quality of the parts produced. I was surprised and never guessed when announced as the winner. Surely, I’ve done my best for this Olympics. Thanks to PT Kawan Lama Solusi, Badan Standardisasi Nasional, and PT Mitutoyo Indonesia for holding this event. Hopefully, next year it can be held again even better."
Besides the competition, the Seminar on Metrology and Dimension Calibration in the Scope of the Manufacturing Industry was also held, presented by experts from BSN and Mitutoyo Indonesia, and measuring tool products presentation by experts from Kawan Lama Solution.
"We do hope through this Metrology Olympics 2024, there will be born a young generation and industrial practitioners who are superior in measurement, to advance the metrology field in Indonesia. The precision and accuracy of measurement are crucial in product quality, research results, and people’s safety. Thorough understanding of metrology becomes more relevant, especially for the young generation who will become leaders in various industrial sectors," said Y. Kristianto Widiwardono, Deputy for National Standards of Measurement Units of BSN.

Not merely competition, the contestants can also gain knowledge through the seminar on metrology, dimensional calibration, and ISO implementation in the manufacturing industry. Hopefully, all contestants can have a positive impact, especially college students who will enter the work field."
